Increasing global economic uncertainty, influenced by geopolitical fragmentation, supply chain disruption, financial market volatility, and accelerating technological change, has created complex challenges for businesses, policymakers, and global society. In this context, sustainability, digital transformation, and inclusive growth are interrelated strategic elements in building long-term economic resilience. Efforts to navigate this economic uncertainty require an adaptive approach that balances economic efficiency, social justice, and environmental responsibility in an increasingly fragmented global economy.

Digital transformation plays a crucial role in responding to these dynamics by opening up opportunities to enhance economic efficiency, transparency, and competitiveness. The use of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and big data analytics not only revolutionises business processes and governance, but also supports the sustainability agenda through the strengthening of sustainable supply chains, the development of smart cities, and the expansion of access to services and economic opportunities. The integration of digital strategies with sustainability principles is key to ensuring that technological innovation contributes to inclusive economic growth and does not widen social and economic disparities.

The 9th International Seminar on Business, Economics, Social Science, and Technology (ISBEST) 2026 is being held as an international academic forum to discuss and formulate solutions to these challenges through a cross-disciplinary perspective. By bringing together academics, practitioners, and policymakers from various countries, this seminar aims to encourage the exchange of ideas and relevant research findings in facing global economic uncertainty through sustainability, digital transformation, and inclusive growth. This annual international seminar is organised by the Faculty of Economics and Business, Open University, Indonesia, in conjunction with the 42nd Anniversary of the Open University, thereby contributing significantly to a more resilient, fair, and sustainable global economy.
